With Bared Teeth and Truths

Formed in 2010 in Carlisle, Triverse Massacre are a daunting prospect, with their heavy duty mix of death metal and groove, played with a relentless thrash ethic.

Their new EP With Bared Teeth and Truths, has an assured and developing unique sound. The opening track on the EP Wolves at the Gates, is a maelstrom of a song, dragging you through the heaviest of breakdowns, and hammering blast beats. Mixing that in with a groove metal sensibility, not afraid to embrace melody, and a fantastic solo guitar flourish, about 3 minutes into the song. An impressive statement of intent for sure!

This is followed by Exhale Betrayal the most thrash influenced song. It is perhaps the least striking of the tracks on the EP, though sounds like it will be a real crowd pleaser played live.

Bullets Kill Beasts, the magnificent third track, begins with some lovely lilting guitar, before delivering a full on assault on the ears, full of great riffs and some evil sounding screamed vocals. Another stand out track. Torn From The Throne really swings, as only the best groove metal can, with some snaking bass lines, and more than a hint of that Meshuggah technical tightness.

What is really refreshing about this EP, is the edgy high energy approach. These guys have clearly put their heart and soul into the recording. Together they've shown the ability to weave together their metal influences into something exciting and creative, rather than treading a well worn path.

This talented five-piece band could make a telling early imprint on the metal scene with this EP. We can look forward to hearing more of them.
