The Answer Liverpool Show
Irish rock 'n' roll band The Answer finally return to Liverpool after 5 years and it's like they never left as their local fan base still remain dedicated. Founded in 2000, The Answer have more than a decade of music experience, they've toured with The Who, Aerosmith and AC/DC all whilst accumulating a stellar catalog of songs.

I was disappointed to find out that the concert was going to be held the small venue instead of the larger one upstairs, bands of this calibre used to fill arenas all over the world but it shows what the music industry has now become. I looked on and could see that both bands needed and deserved a bigger stage, the bands looked like they were confined and I think the show would've been that little bit better if the each act had space to move.

The show started at 8pm and Newcastle rock band BlackWolf warmed up the crowd. Their half an hour set contained energy, vocal acrobatics and intense guitar solos. With one album under their belt and hopefully many more they're a band to watch. They were more than a perfect support band for The Answer.

As 9pm approached the room started to fill to capacity and you could feel the anticipation and excitement hanging in the air. When The Answer made their entrance the place erupted with a roar from the crowd. They didn't waste a second and threw themselves into the set opening with the song New Horizon from their most recent album by the same name. Although all songs were executed perfectly I couldn't help but have a favourite. One of their early tracks, Memphis Water, resonated through the room in the form of smooth guitar riffs from Paul Mahon and strong vocals from Cormac Neeson's soulful voice and made for an epic live track. During the set The Answer honoured fellow Irish musician Rory Gallagher by covering one of his songs titled Cradle Rock. Cormac's voice made every line sound almost as iconic as the original. It's hard to pick out certain instruments in most of the songs as every element blended together flawlessly, though throughout the night there were chances for each band member to show what they were made of with the intense solos performed on the instruments. It was nice to see a band that shares the stage equally and the dynamic working so well, it showed that the band members have a high amount of respect for each other and helped take the show to a higher level.
Hopefully it won't be another 5 years before The Answer stop at Liverpool again as it was an amazing night for all involved. The band are bringing back the aesthetic of the early rock 'n' roll music and I don't want them to stop anytime soon. The Answer's album New Horizon is now available on LP, CD and digital download. Make sure you also catch them at this years Download Festival, they are definitely a band not to miss.
