Big Riffs, Big Attitude

Camden Rocks Festival is on the horizon, and to celebrate the event have put on several showcase gigs serving as a nice little preview for what we can expect come 30th May. As main support tonight to In Search Of Sun, Stoneghost put on a stellar performance which blended big riffs, big attitude and a whole load of talent. It was also quite clear, that Stoneghost alone had pulled in a lot of the numbers in attendance tonight. There were several t-shirts dotted around the tight Barfly surroundings, and the place certainly seemed to empty somewhat after they left. They’ve began to build quite a following as they continue to plough their momentum forward.

The music itself is very groove-orientated. The big heavy riffs had heads bobbing around throughout and by the end there was a small section bouncing around at the front. They blend this slab of Groove Metal with a dose of Hardcore a la Hatebreed and it’s on the live stage their tracks really come to life. The set list was centred around tracks from their latest release New Age Of Old Ways many of which were well received - a fact which clearly delighted the members on stage. The key to their performance emanates mainly from the huge imposing front man, Jason Smith, who does brilliantly to keep things ticking to keep the crowd engaged.

Overall then, a strong performance and definitely a band worth checking out come Camden Rocks at the end of May.
