Frank Turner at The Garage

Friday saw Frank Turner play an intimate show at London’s Garage, which Room Thirteen were lucky enough to gain access to.

The ballot-entry show was packed as Frank’s fans flocked to see him in such a small venue and to hear tracks from his new album Positive Songs For Negative People performed live for the first time , as well as hearing his much-loved hits.

The Garage was a sweaty mess before Turner even stepped foot on stage, as he came out with The Sleeping Souls, looking dapper in a shirts and ties, the crowd erupted and there was barely a still body in the room for the rest of the evening.

From what we heard during Friday’s show, tracks from Positive Songs For Negative People are of a sunnier disposition than those heard on his previous album; Tape Deck Heart. Despite the fact that Positive Songs For Negative People had only been released on the day of the show, songs such as Glorious You and The Next Storm received a massive response with plenty of people singing along.

Fan favourites of the night came in the form of Photosynthesis, The Road and The Ballad Of Me And My Friends, although those around me seemed extremely disappointed that Wessex Boy did not make it into Turner’s set.

As we’ve come to expect from Frank Turner’s shows, he and The Sleeping Souls put on a lively and likeable performance with multiple sing along tracks, which create a real party atmosphere which everyone in the room laps up. Once again, Frank Turner and co did not fail to impress, the only real disappointment of the evening was his set coming to an end.
