Biography

Formed in Oxfordshire, Headcount set out to make a noise right from the
start. Loud guitars, growling bass and thunderous drums combine to create a
heavy punk metal sound with emphasis on melody. Headcount have never relied
on what is hip and fashionable, preferring to follow their own path through
murky musical waters.

Perhaps this is why Headcount stand out from the crowd. Quickly established
for their uncompromising attitude, they gained a reputation for being, in
the words of many a soundman, "the loudest band I've ever heard". The sound
was created out of necessity. Stef the drummer hits the skins so hard the
others had to maximise volume just to be heard!

2002's album "It's a business doing pleasure with you" which included
guitar contributions from the fantastic Marco Pirroni of Adam and the Ants, gained the band a 4K review in Kerrang! and the band have gone from strength to strength.

Musically compared to Therapy, Motorhead and Killing Joke, 2005 sees
Headcount team up with the re-ignited Malicious Damage Records to release
their second album DIE MONKEY DIE.

Produced by Paul Raven of Killing Joke and Martin Ratcliffe of the legendary
Neon Hearts, the album continues to follow the hard edged punk sound of its
predecessor whilst retaining classic Headcount melodies.

The band recently appeared on Bruce Dickinson's Rock Show on BBC 6music and
have had extensive airplay other rock and metal shows both in the UK and
across Europe.

" From the System of a Down on acid "1000 miles" to the punk two-step of
"Korea Woman" this trio are headed for great things"
- Rock sound

"It's bands like Headcount that make the often thankless task of wading
through new
'talent' in search of a gem worthwhile."
- Kerrang!
