Biography

It's 65 seconds into Zero Point's emphatic, glorious track 'Sick With...' where the world comes crashing down, 'round your ears. The staunch, muscular, statement of intent of Zero Point's, soaring song is summed up by six small words:

"Haven't been as real as this."

Whether or not John Parkinson is in fact singing about his relationship with the mother of his son, Kurt or, just his experiences in life, will no doubt become largely irrelevant. In the modern era context is all, and the context that Zero Point are operating within is one that relatively few bands in the history of rock have had to experience. Zero Point are not the next Franz Ferdinand, not the next Offspring in fact Zero Point are not the next anything their fresh blend of Rock, Pop, Punk and Grunge is not only different it's good, and the band prove to offer much more than the some of their influences.

January 2003 in a practice hall a few miles out of Boston, saw the first meeting of Zero Point, as they were to become. The band, initially a side-project as the rhythm section Mark Howitt (ex-bass) and Jason Wood (drums) were still involved with “Violet Ultra” instantly clicked, not only were the band enjoying their music but it felt natural. The organic nature of writing implied by Zero Point meant that ideas came quickly and Zero Point's set grew fuelled by the balance of friendship and talent.

By the summer of 2003, Zero Point had already recorded their self-funded promo EP at Phillia Studios. The promo EP was the result of six months' productivity and was an amazing achievement from a band still in its infancy, Zero Point chose to work with Pete Brown on the recording and Pete's services were used yet again for "Time Stands Still…" the bands debut album.

Despite massive supports alongside New Model Army font-man Justin Sullivan and the legendary UK Subs, 2004 was by no means easy for the band, Mark Howitt choose to leave the band for personal reasons leaving the remaining members to decide where to go. It was a hard year for the band and after several auditions and two more bass players the band found the bassist for them. That man was, and is Jon Moran A.K.A. Jonnie 5.

With the Zero Point camp stronger than ever the band set about recording their debut "Time Stands Still…”. The songs are huge and regardless of the year's events, if there was ever a place where Zero Point could be said to be the most at home it would be bathed in waves of intense vocals, glorious guitar noise and floated over mercurial bass lines and Kicking beats.

Zero Point are John Parkinson (vocals), Ross Worth (guitar, vocals), Jonnie 5 (bass) and Jason Wood (drums).
