Fastlane, the biggest band to emerge from the Surrey rock scene since
Hundred Reasons, have been rewriting the book of rock music for the past 5
years. Imagine a mixture of beautiful harmonies, crunching guitars,
powerful drums and searing melodies and you’re halfway there, with
Fastlane creating a sound associated to no one else. Fastlane have bridged
the gap between rock & contemporary pop- punk, with metallic elements to
boot, without treading on the toes of any one genre.
Formed in 1997, Fastlane was 4 school friends with a common love of music.
Starting a band seemed the next natural procedure, and with all 4 members
playing a minimum of 3 Instruments each, finding a line up that worked
proved a problem at first, but by 1998 the first demo was cut, and the
band were on the road. The only problem was university…
With the band going their separate ways for 4 years, 2003 saw the
reunited, and now rearranged 5 piece rock outfit ready for business.
After recording their first E.P. and being picked up by 20 Deck records,
they were soon on the road wowing audiences across the country, resulting
in some 20,000 mp3.com downloads in under 12 months. Playing with the
likes of New Found Glory, Hundred Reasons, Hell Is For Heroes, InMe, Reef,
Consumed, Vanilla Pod, 4ft Fingers, My Awesome Compilation, to name but a
few, in such venues as Nottingham Rock City, Southampton Guildhall, Camden
Underworld, The Garage, The Sound Leicester Square, Cardiff Barfly, The
Leicester Charlotte, the list goes on.
2004 saw Fastlane enter the studio to record their first full length album
at the hands of Iain Wetherell (Raging Speedhorn, My Awesome Compilation)
at Premier Studios Corby and still manage to fit in some 100 + shows
across the country, winning audiences over in every corner. Finally in the
latter part of 2004 the band finished the album and promptly called it
‘New Start’. The result is probably the best debut album from a UK rock
band you’re likely to stumble across, choc full of quality tunes bursting
from your speakers with standout cuts all the way through including soon
to be dancefloor smash-hits ‘Eyes Closed’, ‘Elevator’, ‘A New Start’ &
‘Million Times’ amongst others!
The album is scheduled for release on March 14th through Sucka-Punch
Records and the band will be touring heavily following the release.
