Biography

Good Charlotte are fronted by identical twin brothers Joel (vocals) and Benji Madden (Lead Guitar & backing vocals), with their friends Billy Martin (Rhythm Guitar, keyboard) and Paul Thomas (Bass Guitar). Formed in 1996, the band started out playing small gigs to get their name known. By 1999, they acquired popularity by playing clubs and small venues and their demo got passed around. This caught the attention of major music labels, and the band were eventually signed to Epic Records.

Shortly after they were signed, the band released their debut self-titled album. Unfortunately this didn't bump them to the top of the chars. For this to happen the boys had to wait until their second album. This bough them mainstream success in the form of The Young and the Hopeless, that spawned the hit single Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, which topped both pop and rock charts around the globe as well as The Anthem, and Girls and Boys.

The bands third album, The Chronicles of Life and Death, released in 2004, has been widely considered a departure from their previous two albums, mixing new elements such as strings, synths, and more mature lyrical topics into Good Charlotte's youthful power-pop sound. Singles released from the album include Predictable and I Just Wanna Live, as well as The Chronicles of Life and Death.

Their new album, Good Morning Revival came in early 2007. The first song released, Keep Your Hands Off My Girl, is the type of song that you will hear once and have it stuck in your head all day. Expect big things from Good Charlotte in the next year.
