Biography

Cakeboy AKA Paul Croley began his career at the age of 18 as a drummer in a thrash/metal band. After 4 years of recording and touring he trained as a sound engineer in a Sheffield recording studio where he learned the art of sequencing & sampling. Growing bored of the band thing and becoming infected by the electronic dance music scene, he went it alone and within a year, had written & produced his first ambient/dance ep. Upon moving to Brighton in the late 90's he began creating a new sound encompassing the aggression of his roots in rock with fat breakbeats and a quirky sense of humour. The Cakeboy alter-ego was born & missing the buzz of performing he decided to take it to the stage, experimenting with his own material on the fly & taking up the challenge of making each performance different. His live sets have become a firm festival favorite and now, with the addition of audio/visual wizard VJ Doublethink the Cakeshow has grown into an explosive & adrenalin- fueled multimedia experience.

In 2004 Cakeboy played Glastonbury Festival's famous Dance Tent after taking the title of 'Best Unsigned Dance Act' and returned in 2005, playing to a capacity crowd! His debut Album 'Have it & Eat it' is out now on Bristol's Cup Of Tea Records.
