Biography

Minus The Bear reside in Seattle, Washington and have created some of the most exciting eccentric pop rock ever. Not only featuring legendary producer Matt Bayles (Isis/ Mastadon) and ex Botch axeman Dave Knudson, Minus The Bear are completed by former members of Kill Sadie and Sharks Keep Moving.

Formed in Spring 01, Knudson (who loves Daft Punk, Kylie Minogue and Fischerspooner) teamed up with the other members of MTB in order to have an outlet from the punishing extremities of Botch. When the other concerns dissolved, Minus The Bear became a full-time unit creating some fine indie pop rock songs and touring as much as possible.

Taking their name from the tale end of a bad bar joke, Minus The Bear�s debut album �Highly Refined Pirates� finally gets an official UK release through rising indie label Undergroove (home of Johnny Truant, The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg, and now Aereogramme amongst others).

Featuring re-worked artwork and bonus tracks, �Highly Refined Pirates� is a modern masterpiece of quirky guitar pop that features some of the best song titles ever. It�s enough to surprise and delight fans of the former bands and ensure music will never be quite the same once you�ve heard it. Indeed one listen to Jake�s unique vocals and sharp witted lyrics is enough to endear Minus The Bear in your heart for years to come. No one as yet has surpassed the best opening lyric on an album : �And then we all bought yachts�!
