Biography
Formed in Surrey, UK around the Millennium, Fony have released two studio albums to date. The first, 2002's 'Routine Irregular' , met with an enthusiastic response from the UK music press and fans alike. Fony were tagged one of the UK's best new bands.
Their second studio album 'Circles' was released in the Autumn of 2003 and took them forward from the raw sound of their debut. The single "Wishlist, End" showcased a more natural sound and a maturity in their songwriting. That and three years of extensive touring throughout the UK and Europe with the likes of Life of Agony, Funeral for a Friend, Lostprophets and most recently InMe brought their tight and hugely-energetic sound to the attention of a lot more people.
Olly Gibbens left the band to pursue an alternative career in October 2005 and was replaced by Fraser McGuinness. A new record deal was signed with independent UK label Headroom Records for a third studio album, to be released in May 2006. In the words of guitarist Steve Gush : "We approached this as our first album. You should always have something to prove, and we feel we do."
And prove it they have. Fony's musicianship and songwriting has reached a new level with 'Mercy After Fiction'. The band has taken what it learned from 'Circles' and found a new direction that is a darker and more dynamic, although just as intense and hard-hitting.
