Rm13: So, Bloodstock is coming up are you guys getting excited?
Jez: “Yeah definitely, it’s been a big lead up to this, we’re just hoping that it’s everything that it’s promising to be”

Rm13: Have you played there before?
Jez: “This is the first year we’ve done it, we’ve not done this sort of size. We’ve been together for 18 months now and this is our first big gig, but we’re all looking forward to it! Pete and I have been playing together, (though not in the biblical sense!); in bands since we were 15 and we’ve always dreamed of having a band like Sevenyearsdead. It’s in the last 18 months since G joined that we’ve really picked up and got the package that we feel we’ve been looking for. We’ve just finished recording a new CD. We’re hoping to take as many to Bloodstock as we can. It’s an EP with four tracks, the four songs sound blisteringly good and we want to get it out there and get people to hear it.”

Rm13: What are you guys doing after Bloodstock?
Jez: "We’ve got maybe a dozen gigs booked up in the next 2 – 3 months, the new CD, and hopefully get some labels interest in it.”
Pete: “We will. We’ll get some.”
Jez: “We’ve had nothing but good feedback since we’ve been Sevenyearsdead, so we’re just getting out there and generally trying to make ourselves a household name.”

Rm13: Sevenyearsdead a household name, now that’s interesting!
Pete: “Yeah!” (laughs)

Rm13: So where did the name come from?
Jez: “It’s a funny thing, lots of people ask me this and little things keep creeping up. There’s a book. Which one is it Pete?”
Pete: “A Christmas Carol.”
Jez: “And the phrase crops up in that somewhere, and everybody thinks it came from there, which it hasn’t. It came from…I was reading a Spiderman comic a few years back and one of his arch-enemies had come back and Spiderman hadn’t seen the guy for a while and he said “He must have been dead seven years,” and I thought 'Cool, seven years dead.' This was in the middle of the night and I wrote it down and the next day I told Pete we’d got a band name.”

Rm13: So Spiderman is your favourite superhero?
Jez: “Definitely! Is there another? The guy rules. I tell you if I wasn’t a singer I’d be Spiderman!”

Rm13: Have you been to many other festivals like Bloodstock, but as punters?
Jez: “Oh yeah! We’ve done ‘em all! We went to Download this year, and the Ozz Fest a few years ago, Monster’s Of Rock. We’ve done ‘em all, so it will be good to be on the other side of the fence, as it were!”

Rm13: Are you going to hang out with the crowd if you get the chance, or…?
Jez: “We’re gonna do a bit of both, because we’ve got a load of merchandise that we’re going to be selling. So do the show, rip through the set, chill out for a while and mingle with all and sundry”.

Rm13: Is there anyone you’ll be checking out?
Jez: “Children of Bodom I definitely want to see! And there’s a few others- Fourwaykill and Gutworm, who we’re giging with later on this year. We’ll get to see as many people as we can”.

Rm13: If you were stranded in a tent with no food and no beer, which one of your band would you eat first and why?
Jez: “Definitely not Dave ‘cause he’s not got a strap of flesh on him. Perhaps the drummer…”
Pete: “Probably me cause I’m the biggest!”
Jez: “Yeah Pete’d go round, he’d keep the three of us going!”
Pete: “Yeah. Probably me”

Rm13: What would you serve you with then?
Pete: “I dunno, you’ll have to answer that one…”
Jez: “What would I serve you with?!(laughs) Chianti. I’d starve as well ‘cause I couldn’t eat my own brother. I’d maybe chow down on his leg”.
