Even though the band called it quits for a second time last year, it has been reported that a brand new hits compilation, tentatively and imaginatively titled 'Best of Jane's Addiction', is scheduled for an early 2006 release, likely is the end of January.
Perry Farrell fan site Aintnoright.com reported last month that the album, which is the bands first official hits compilation, was supposed to come out at the end of September. At the time though no details were given concerning any track listing, and no reason has been given for the rescheduling of the release date.
Jane's Addiction split in 2004 for reasons unknown, though it was stated in an online posting on guitarist Dave Navarro's site that the causes for the breakup were similar to the ones that broke the band up the first time in the early Nineties, whatever they might have been?
Since the split former JANE'S ADDICTION members have been busy with new projects. Stephen Perkins, Chris Chaney and Navarro are currently at work on the debut album from their new outfit The Panic Channel fronted by former Skycycle vocalist Steve Isaacs. Not to be outdone, former Jane's vocalist Perry Farrell is working on the debut material from his new band Satellite Party, which features former Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Both records are expected to see the light of day sometime in 2006. There you are, all you ever wanted to know and more about the musical wear abouts of Jane's Addiction.
