It was voted the best Christmas record of all time in a VH1 poll, and is one of the only festive tracks that sounds good all year round. Now it's back!
The Pogues are re-releasing their classic Christmas hit 'Fairytale of New York' on 19th December.
The track missed out on the Christmas number 1 spot in 1987, beaten by Petshop Boys 'Always On My Mind', and only just scraped into the top forty at 36 when it was re-released in 1991.
This year it will be battling it out in the Christmas chart with Coldplay, James Blunt, Westlife and the winner of the X Factor.
Several new versions of the song will be available for download and all proceeds go to the charities - Crisis at Christmas and the Justice For Kirsty Campaign.
Set up by the late singer's mother Jean, The Justice For Kirsty Campaign, enables the family to fight the long legal battle for justice following the tragic death of Kirsty McColl, killed by a powerboat whilst on holiday.
From the charities site:
"Kirsty MacColl was an English singer and writer who was killed by a power boat at the age of 41 whilst scuba diving with her sons in a restricted diving area off Cozumel, Mexico on 18th December 2000. Almost 4 years later, no-one has been made accountable to the satisfaction of her family and friends."
