AEG Live have issued the following update regarding the Bon Jovi shows scheduled to take place at the new Wembley Stadium this June.

Rob Hallet, Senior Vice President of AEG Live said:

"We are working closely with Wembley concerning the two Bon Jovi shows scheduled on June 10 and June 11. Everyone at the company appreciates that these are extremely difficult circumstances. Whilst I can't go into any detail we are considering all of our options.

"Wembley want to stage the shows, AEG Live want Wembley to stage the shows, and the band naturally want to see through the honour of being invited to open the stadium."

Yesterday the news broke that the Football Association had moved the Cup Final to it's recent home in Cardiff for one more season as they couldn't be certain the stadium would be ready in time to allow for preparation for May 13th match. They also announced that the Football League Play Off finals and two England friendly matches for the end of May and start of June would also be relocated.

This prompted much speculation that the Bon Jovi concerts would have to be moved or canceled.

Despite a headline on the website of BBC 6Music announcing, "Stones open Wembley" and "Bon Jovi get the boot", no official decision had been made about exactly what the first concert for the new national stadium will be.

Unsurprisingly though the Rolling Stones promotions people seem rather pleased about the possible delay to the project's completion when speaking on the BBC. "I think it's for us as a British band to support a British Institution and send out a signal to the rest of the world," the bands European tour director John Giddings said.

Multiplex, the company building the new stadium, say they hope to have the site ready as near to the original March deadline as possible. In short, watch this space!
