The Electric Picnic is back for its third year on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd September. The event takes place in the setting of Stradbally Hall Estate, Co
Laois - less than an hour from Dublin.
After last year's 25,000 tickets sold out, the festival capacity has been increased 5,000.
The first acts have been announced, and is an eclectic mix of rock and electro across seven stages. The names on the bill so far are:
Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Groove Armada, Antony and the Johnsons, DJ Shadow, Damien Rice, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Frames, Devendra Banhart, Super Furry Animals, Belle & Sebastian, Rufus Wainwright, Bloc Party, Alabama 3, The Rapture, Mad Professor, Saul Williams, Tom Vek, Gang of Four, David Kitt, The Boy Least Likely To,
Jim Noir, Rachid Taha, Elbow, Graham Coxon, Deus, The Rags, The Dublin Gospel Choir, Blue Nile, and topped off by Mr. Electric Gary Numan.
Along with the music there's alternative therapies & workshops, burlesque theatre and cabaret from Lost Vagueness, comedy, face-to-face interviews with some of the acts performing over the weekend, a silent disco, and a cinema.
Tickets for the three days are priced at 175 euros including camping, and are on sale now.
