Following a select number of shows back in Australia, The Vines are set to return to the UK next month.

The band will come back to the UK for their first appearances here since 2004, with two shows around their appearance at the Carling Weekend.

Singer Craig Nicholls has continued to make big strides forward with his treatment for Asperger's Syndrome and feels ready to play live again in small doses.

The band played two shows last week, one unannounced under the name of Joe Dirt at Sydney's Annandale hotel, the second in front of 8,000 ecstatic people at the Splendour Festival in Byron Bay. Both shows featuring new bassist - Brad Heald - were such a success that Nicholls felt the next natural step was to bring the band back to the UK.

The Reading and Leeds dates sees the band return to the place where they played one of their finest festival performances in the career, and went along way to fueling the huge hype that surrounded them in their early days.
