According to newspaper reports, The Darkness have filled the singer spot vacated by Justin Hawkins.
Current bass player Richie Edwards will perform vocals on the band's third album which they are set to begin recording in the New Year.
Edwards joined the band following original bassist Franky Poullan's departure in 2005.
Hawkins quit the band in October to seek rehab for drink and drug problems, however he could be back in the spotlight sooner than we thought as he is one of many names being rumoured for the forth-coming series of Celebrity Big Brother, due to start early January.
As yet no details on either story on the band's website.
