Former Smiths star Andy Rourke is getting back to his roots in Manchester planning the world's biggest busking gig to raise money for cancer sufferers. The gig will happen between 2 and 4pm on 13th January in Exchange Square, members of the public are urged to sign up by emailing their name and contact details, as well as details of how they'll busk to busking@greatnorthernproductions.co.uk.
Rourke says:
A record of this kind has never been attempted before so it will be great if we can do it, especially as it's for charity. We hope to raise £1 million to fight cancer with our 2007 concerts, and we hope this will set the ball rolling nicely."
The gig is also backed by Versus Cancer, who are planning a concert at the MEN Arena on 30th March, tickets for which go on sale on 12th January with details of the line up coming in the next few weeks.
