Radio 1 has announced that this year's Big Weekend will be heading to Preston.

The event will take place over the weekend of May 19-20 and tickets will be free.

Radio 1's Big Weekend has grown to become the biggest free ticketed music festival in Europe and in the past has attracted the likes of Foo Fighters, Muse, Primal Scream, Fratellis, Feeder, The View, Gnarls Barkley and Pink.

The line-up will be announced on Radio 1 nearer the time.
