HMV have bought the six most profitable Fopp stores, taking them out of the hands of administrators and relaunching the chain.

The shops will reappear in Glasgow, where it was originally born, plus Edinburgh, London's Covent Garden, Manchester, Nottingham and Cambridge.

Fopp was founded 25 years ago but was forced to close down earlier this summer with the loss of 700 jobs.

The company had massive credit problems which came from it buying up the Music Zone chain.

It is hoped that around 70 people will get their jobs back with the shops re-opening as soon as possible.
