MTV International this week launched the MTV Platinum And Gold Video Awards, a brand new system to celebrate the most played music videos across the global MTV network. The Platinum and Gold awards system will provide a snapshot of the World's most popular music videos.

To make the Platinum list, a video will have had to have been played more than 6,000 times during the alloted time period. Gwen Stefani's 'Sweet Escape' topped the first list with over 11,000 plays across the MTV Network followed by Nelly Furtado 'All Good Things Come To An End' which reached over 9000. The Platinum list also included Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake and British newcomer, Mika. Fall Out Boy's video for "This Aint A Scene" and Kaiser Chief's video for "Ruby" have both made the platinum list.

For the video to be considered Gold status a total of 3,000 plays must have been recorded, and entries in the Gold list include the videos for Arctic Monkey's "Brianstorm", Bloc Party's "The Prayer" and The Fray's "How To Save A Life".

To create the list, 38 MTV Music Channels from four continents provided data on their most played Music Videos from the period 1 February 2007 to 30 June 2007. The top 20 music videos to be honoured with either a Platinum or Gold Award were then worked out by the number of spins they had received.
