The owners of the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff are reportedly gunning for Led Zeppelin to play the Welsh venue, were they to follow last week’s London show with a world tour in 2008.
WRU (Welsh Rugby Union) Chief Executive Roger Lewis, who is apparently a personal friend of the band's bassist John Paul Jones, is hopeful of securing another massive event for Wales.
He told Wales on Sunday: "We would love to welcome Led Zeppelin and we have already put out a request to Harvey Goldsmith. We have a good relationship with Harvey who also handles Bruce Springsteen, who is coming to the stadium. Initially Harvey said they were only going to do a one-off gig, but now they are considering a tour.
"The thing is, we are the only stadium in Britain with a retractable roof and we can guarantee a perfect event for 70,000 people. There's nowhere else in the country that can do that.”
Last week, the NME reported the rumour that led Zep have Wembley Stadium on hold, were they to tour in 2008.
