Malcolm Middleton has covered the Madonna song ‘Stay’ on his up-coming album ‘Sleight of Heart’.
The album, out on March 3, features nine new tracks written during the ‘A Brighter Beat’ sessions, and three covers, Madonna’s ‘Stay’, King Creosote's ‘Marguerita Red’ and Jackson C. Frank's ‘Just Like Anything’.
‘Sleight of Heart’ is predominantly an acoustic record:
"I suppose this album is a reaction to the production of ‘A Brighter Beat’, which I love, but I felt it was time for something quieter," says Middleton. "My songs are usually written on a guitar so this way they are closer to the original form.”
With this latest LP ready to go, Middleton has already turned his attention to his next: although with mixed results.
"Right now, everything sounds like a fat child throwing a Casio keyboard down a flight of stairs and hitting an old man at the bottom who's playing Verve songs badly on an over-priced guitar."
