The Shockwaves NME Awards nominations have been announced this morning (Jan 25).

Although it was reported last year that rock music sales were at a 50 year low, this year's nominations see both Arcade Fire and Foals up for four plaudits each, whilst My Chemical Romance is up for three awards.

As previously announced by Room Thirteen, Dave Grohl will be awarded the Godlike Genius award for his long and distinguished musical career.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday February 23 at London's Brixton Academy.
