As winter draws nearer, it is time for your friends at R13 to make you feel better by introducing you to our band of the month for November, Star Scream.
We do like to hear bands make music in their own original style and with Star Scream there is no compromise on that regards, as you are about to find out! Frontman Adam Lightspeed kindly provided us with the answers to our questions:
Bio:
Star Scream is a collective of human beings from the South East of England who use guitars, drums, white noise, strings, feedback, shouting and pianos to conjure up melodies to mesmerise in the 21st century.
Star Scream exists in an age of copyists and bandwagon-jumpers, its sole purpose is to sound unlike anything you've ever heard whilst sounding exactly like everything you'd ever want to hear.
Members:
Adam Lightspeed: Songwriter and Lyricist, Vocals, Guitar and Keyboards.
Natalie Cherry: Bass and Backing Vocals
Sky London: Drums and Percussion.
Influences:
Muse,
The Nightmare Before Christmas,
Marilyn Manson,
Garbage
and too many late nights.
Sounds Like:
Dark and theatrical Glam-tinged Electronica; dreamy-screamy futuristic rock 'n' roll for the 21st Century.
Current release and where it's available:
Our debut album Sexploitation is available at all the usual digital music stores, including iTunes, Bandcamp and our website www.starscream.co.uk
where you can also get a physical copy of the album with a special 8 page art booklet designed by us. It's pretty.
Up and coming artists you would recommend:
King Lizard, Stereo Juggernaut, Death Koolaid and Generation Graveyard are all definitely worth checking out. They are all pretty different to Star Scream but it's hard to find someone who sounds like we do!
Future Plans:
We have two singles lined up for release early next year, Death Shower Scene in January (which we're in the process of filming a video for now) and Scenester in March, with a re-release of our album Sexploitation on Valentine's Day!
Tour Dates:
Saturday 1st November - Nightmare Festival Camden (13:30 at Dingwalls, Canal Side Stage)
Friday 28th November - The Barfly, Camden
We're just booking some shows for early next year to coincide with our upcoming releases.
If you were the prime minister for one day, what would you do:
I would change the way that governments are elected, so that instead of the public voting, the leaders of each party must compete in A Trial By Combat.
If you could go back to any time in history, where would you go and why:
I'd grow a mop-top, travel back to 1960 and "replace" Paul McCartney in the Beatles, after all, I know all the songs already so I could just pretend I'd written them and no one would be any the wiser.
Failing that, I'd go back to the 1950s, Enchantment Under The Sea Dance, coz it worked for Marty McFly.
Is there anything you would like to say to our readers:
Believe the hype.
Be excellent to each other.
We'll see you in the future.
