Despite pop not being our normal coverage, there were certain bands mentioned in this years Pop Factory awards that deserved a mention.

On Friday 24th October 2003, the awards ceremony for ITV Wales' music show took place. We're quite sure you don't care where Daniel Beddingfield came, and we hope that you won't mind us missing out Busted. There are however, some people you may care about.

Best Album: The Darkness

(Also nominated amongst others: Feeder, Stereophonics, Super Furry Animals).

After aceing this years Kerrang! Awards with a string of wins, it seems there is no stopping The Darkness.

Best Live Act: Super Furry Animals
(Also nominated amongst others: Feeder, Funeral For A Friend, The Darkness, Stereophonics)

Having just completed their first headline tour since the release of their latest album, and a string of festival dates this year - our review of their recent tour certainly backs up this award.

Best Pop Factory Debut: Funeral For A Friend
(Also nominated amongst others: The Darkness)

Having already beaten the Darkness at the K! awards, it seems that once again they have managed it. Something to do with them being welsh? Surely not.

Best Pop Factory Performance: The Darkness
(Also nominated amongst others: Kym Marsh)

Yes, that's right. Up against the likes of Kym Marsh the darkness managed to win. Anybody know why?

Rock and Roll Excess: Dirty Sanchez

Following the likes of the K! Awards... it seemed obvious that this award would go to the Welsh version. It's amazing what you can do with sand paper.
