Cinder Road are a new band from the USA who are heavily influenced by classic rock bands from the eighties, something which comes across in their sound.

R13: You've said you wanted to make an old school style rock record but with a modern feel, can you elaborate on that in terms of what we can
expect from your debut album?

CR: I have always loved rock music, specifically 80's rock so I wanted to make an album that rocked like the bands I looked up to (Def Leppard, Motley Crue ETC) but it's 2007 so the album sounds modern and also has influences from today's music. In addition, many of the albums back then had a really wide range of songs, ballads, anthems, ETC. I wanted to incorporate that as well.

R13: What did working with Marti Fredrickson do as far as helping the band develop?
CR: Marti is an amazing musician. He can play any instrument and better than most, so when you are working with a guy like that it pushes you to be your best. He is also a great songwriter and it helped me mature my writing with his experience.

R13: What inspired the band lyrically for this album?
CR: Really I just write about everyday life and the things that I have experienced.

R13: Who were the bands you were into when growing up?
CR: My favorite singer is Elvis. Other than that I am a huge fan of Aerosmith, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi among many others.

R13: You've played gigs for the armed forces, what was that like?
CR: It was a really great experience getting to hang with the troops in their environment. We came overseas with the intention of giving the men and women a break from everyday life to relax and enjoy a rock show. By doing those shows we were able to give back in our own way and we plan on doing more shows for the military as much as we can.

R13: How did those gigs come about?
CR: I contacted Armed Forces Entertainment and shortly their after we began touring for them.

R13: What plans do you have for playing live over the summer?
CR: We hope to continue touring throughout the rest of the year. Being on the road is where we belong.

R13: Who are the bands you'd most like to play alongside?
CR: Aerosmith and Def Leppard for sure.

R13: What sort of reaction have you got from outside the US, has there been much interest from the UK?
CR: We have had a number of fans contact us from all over the world. Using tools like Myspace to get your music out really helps reach a worldwide audience. Our hope now is that we can travel overseas and play shows for these people.

R13: Who's music are you most into right now?
CR: I really like the Daughtry album, Hinder and Nickelback.

R13: What are your hopes/expectations for the success of the album?
CR: I think any band would say that they would like their band to be the biggest in the world and that their album goes 10 times platinum and I hope the same for us.

R13: Are there any specific things you'd like to achieve as a band?
CR: Personally I would like to play a show at Madison Square Gardens, tour in Europe and Japan, have a platinum selling album and maintain a career in the music business for the next 20 to 30 years. So I think I have my work cut out for myself!
