Festival season is well underway, July is upon us once more and so is Guilfest, taking place at it's established venue of Stoke Park in the centre of Guilford. As well as being the most relaxed and family friendly festival that we go to, Guilfest also boasts the most eclectic line up, regularly featuring everything from thrash metal to chart topping popstars.
Running from Friday to Sunday (13th - 15th July), this years main stage headliners come in the form of Jools Holland, Olly Murs and Bryan Ferry, whilst over on stage two we get ABC, Gary Numan and Ash. Over the weekend you can also catch the likes of The South, Dodgy, The Wonder Stuff, Tim Minchin, Tulisa, Jimmy Cliff, Chic and Republica on those stages. Alright we admit it's not as strong a line up as previous years but Guilfest is seldom about the mainstage headliners for R13, it's more about the event as a whole and discovering new bands that we may otherwise have never heard of!
If you like things a bit heavier or alternative then there are some great bands on the Vive Le Rock and Big Cheese Stages; Skindred, The Beat, Buzzcocks, Kids In Glass Houses and The Undertones join the likes of TV Smith, Goldblade, Tyrannosaurus Alan and The Ramonas.
With another two stages featuring mainly local talent, an acoustic stage, comedy tent (and the best kids area you're likely to see at any festival), there's never a shortage of things to see and do and it's part of the reason that we keep coming back. Other festivals are available of course but this being our eighth year in a row, Guilfest has become tradition.
