You know everyone is gearing towards festival season again when you're being bombarded with daily updates for events across the world. To help you we've put together a short guide on the most important festival announcements so far!

Download Festival

We've already been hit by two major announcements for Download Festival, with all three headliners and heaps of other bands added to the bill. A few days after the initial headliner announcement it was confirmed that this will be Aerosmith's last ever show in the UK which in of itself is an absolutely major event. System Of A Down also announced just days later that they will be armed with new music heading in to their tour in 2017 with a new album in the works. Reading & Leeds Festival

Reading & Leeds have also delivered a very exciting announcement, giving us the first of their three headliners alongside a host of acts of varying styles. When we reviewed Download Festival in 2015 we were very sincere in saying that Muse's headline slot was one of the best we'd witnessed in recent memory on the festival circuit. With that said, seeing them returning to top the bill at Reading & Leeds is very exciting indeed. Alongside them you've got some of the most impressive heavy bands on the scene at the moment in Architects and While She Sleeps. We're pumped to see what'll be announced next. Bloodstock Festival

We've been covering Bloodstock Festival ever since its inception and we'll always continue to be impressed as year on year it continues to grow in to one of the most important festivals on the entire scene. As ever, their announcement train is running through thick and fast at the moment, delivering new headliners, old favourites and everything in between. Amon Amarth are set to invade the hallowed Catton Park turf next summer, we hope you're ready. Desertfest

One of our favourite festivals on the whole circuit, Desertfest never lets us down in delivering the very best in Stoner/Doom/Psych Metal. Each year throws us curveballs all over the place and it's looking like 2017 will be no different. The first headliner announced for next year's event are the legendary Punk unit Turbonegro who sit alongside some of the more familiar Desertfest family. Slam Dunk Festival

After initially announcing Enter Shikari are set to return to Slam Dunk Festival for some huge shows commemorating the ten year anniversary of their debut album Take To The Skies as the first of their headliners, Slam Dunk have now announced a handful of other bands set to join them at the three day event across the country next May. Old favourites are set to return on a line up already impressing the strong Slam Dunk faithful. Hellfest

Looking over to the continent then and in perhaps the most unsurprising news of 2016, Hellfest have announced every band ever for next year's event. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but true to form the organisers feel like they've once again covered all bases with their line up next year. From top to bottom you've got legendary acts sitting alongside the new breed at a festival which (barring Glastonbury) is probably the fastest selling in all of Europe – and for good reason. Resurrection Fest

Following down a similar vein to Hellfest, Resurrection Fest is getting better and better year on year, going with a real heavyweight set of bands including Rammstein, Rancid, Dropkick Murphys and more.
