Following the earth-shattering first announcement which included the return of Tool as well as Slipknot and Def Leppard as headliners, the organisers have been busy working away on blasting the next wave of acts our way.

This new announcement contains two particularly special additions. The first of which being the almighty Slayer. The legendary Thrash Metal outfit are currently on their final run of shows, recently wrapping up an incredibly intense set of dates in arenas up and down the UK and will descend on Donington once again for what will be their final EVER UK show. Not something that you want to miss.

The second of these is The Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan and co. will be gracing the Download stage for what will be the very first time on a day in which (at least according to the current poster) they will be sub-headlining to Tool in a proper 90's Alternative bonanza to close out the festival.
