Tonight Radio 1 announced their Top 40 charts of the year. While top single and album were sadly won by Tony Christie and James Blunt respectively, the top 10 album chart did reflect a good year for UK indie with Coldplay coming in at number 2 and Kaiser Chiefs' debut at 4. Other notable rock and indie releases of the year scored highly: Oasis's 'Don't Believe The Truth' got lucky at 13 and Foo Fighters' 'In Your Honour' came in at 27.

The singles was a harder contest, however Gorillaz and Oasis both got 2 tracks into the top 40 and Stereophonics' Summer hit 'Dakota' reached 35, while new sensations Arctic Monkeys' number 1 track 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' reached 27.
