The Shins have pulled out of the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals to continue work on their new album.

The band were due to play the Radio1/NME stage at Reading (Sat 26) and Leeds (Sun 27).

The Automatic have moved into their slot, while Metric join the bill for Friday (25) at Leeds and Sunday (27) at Reading.

The Radio 1/NME stage will be headlined by Primal Scream, Maximo Park and Raconteurs.
