The fifth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards saw triumph for Machine Head whose new album, 'The Blackening' won Best Album as their front man Rob Flynn also won the coveted Golden God Award.
Best Newcomer went to Deathstars, while up n'coming group Job For A Cowboy won Best Underground Band. Mastodon's Bill Kelliher & Brent Hinds won the Dimebag Darrell Award for Best Shredder and Napalm Death picked up the Spirit of Hammer Award.
Best UK band went to Bullet For My Valentine and Slayer picked up the Icon Award with Black Sabbath band members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Ronnie James and Vinny Appice who are performing under the name of Heaven And Hell collected the Resurrection Award from Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.
Killswitch Engage won Best International Band and Lamb Of God Best Live Band while Slash picked up Riff Lord.
