The single title ‘COOL T-SHIRT’ is an ironic one. IMBECILES, three former tearaways from Bulgaria and London, who describe themselves as ‘electro-punk-hoppers’ (think 50’s rockabilly and the Beasties mixed with frenetic Balkan beats) have first hand experience of living under the communist regime. For them the hammer & sickle is a symbol of oppression; it’s not ‘cool’ and it’s not ‘romantic.’ They reckon if rock ‘n’roll is freedom, then the hammer & sickle isn’t rock’n’roll. Just look at the people who were sent to labour camps by these red-star-waving murderers. But then West London has its attractions too….

IMBECILES originate from Sofia in Bulgaria though mainman Nasso’s formative years were spent in London. Yes, Bulgaria, the land of yoghurt, Hristo Stoichkov and the Poison Umbrella. After achieving national success in Eastern Europe the band decided to risk all and move back over here – Nasso (vocals), Ivo (guitars) and Rocco (drums) – and are ready to start again with a new record deal and a debut single.

‘COOL T-SHIRT’ is released on Marco Pirroni’s new label Only Lovers Left Alive on September 20th . It will be available on 7” vinyl and CD.
