The winners for the 2008 Ivor Novello awards, which honour songwriting and composing, have been announced with Radiohead and Amy Winehouse picking up awards, while Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour receives a lifetime achievement awards.
Radiohead won the award for their latest studio effort In Rainbows, which made the headlines last year after the band famously offered their fans to buy the album for any price they wanted.
Amy Winehouse received the songwriting award for Best Song Musically & Lyrically for the song Love Is A Losing Game from her Back To Black album. In true Winehouse fashion, she turned up to the bash too late to accept the award, arriving as her father was on stage accepting the award in her stead.
Meanwhile, Phil Collins who has recently wrapped up a reunion tour with Genesis, received the International Achievement award. The eponymous performer is expected to be taking a step back from the limelight and turn his hand to writing for other people.
Pink Floyd's David Gilmour picked up the Lifetime Achievement award for a career that has seen him co-write seminal albums such as Dark Side of The Moon, The Wall and his own solo efforts, the most recent of which, On An Island was released in 2006.
Other winners at the awards included Take That winning Most Performed Work for their single Shine, Mika picking up Songwriter of the Year and Chris Difford and John Tillbrook of Squeeze picking up an award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music.
