Garage punk Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr - better known by his stage name Jay Reatard was found dead in his home today. It's reported that he died in his sleep, he was 29 years old.
Jay Reatard's recording career began with a home-made demo tape at the age of 15 that caught the attention of Eric Friedl (Goner Records) before going on to records dozens of songs with a number of bands.
Matador Records has issued this statement :"We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we?ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We're honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly."
