Following yesterday's news that U2 were forced to cancel their appearance at the Somerset festival, Damon Albarn's cartoon band Gorillaz have been announced as their replacement.
This news comes a week after tickets went on sale for the band's upcoming UK tour in October. This will be the only UK festival set for Gorillaz, who performed at Coachella in the US in April. After Glasto, they will go on to play two more European festivals, Roskilde and Benicassim, in July.
Yesterday, U2 confirmed that they would be cancelling their Glastonbury set and their US tour dates following Bono's recent back operation.
