Nathan Leone has issued an update on the condition of his brother and band mate, Matthew, following the bass players horrific assualt in Chicago as he attempted to help a woman who was being beaten.

Nathan, lead singer of the Chicgo based band wrote:
"I just wanted to take a second to thank you all for your overwhelming love and support. For those who don't know, a few nights ago my twin brother and best friend Matthew was severely injured while trying to stop a man who was beating his wife on the street one block away from my apartment (in Chicago). Matthew was all alone and managed to save the girl but got beaten pretty badly in the process. The couple then left him laying unconscious in the middle of the street. Both have been subsequently arrested. Matthew is currently in the hospital recovering from brain surgery, a fractured skull, (his jaw is) broken in two places and (he has) a broken nose. The doctors have removed a part of his skull to allow for the swelling in his brain to subside and we're currently waiting for leakage from a haematoma to stop. After three days the prognosis is looking better. I've been next to him throughout the entire process and as impossible as it is to see him go through it, I've seen a strength I didn't know existed and I'm so proud of him. As of this morning (Thursday, July 1) he recognised me and is able to have minor conversation and move around. When something like this happens people are often inclined to despise humanity but in this case, the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, fans, neighbours, etc. has far overshadowed that notion and has proven to us that although there are certainly some evil people in the world, there are far more amazing people. Thank you all again, we love and appreciate you more than you'll know."

American News channel, ABC 7 Chicago has also spoken to Nathan in an interview which can be viewed by clicking here.
During the interview the true extent of Matthew's injuries are shown and as such viewer's discretion is advised.

In addition Nathan has revealed how the brothers do not have medical insurance to actually cover Matthew's hospital bill. Speaking to MTV News following the attacked Nathan explained that the brothers do not have health insurance and as a result of the seriousness of the attack, the bills they are left with could be huge, something he claims they'll "deal with (that) when we have to."

We send our best wishes to Matthew and hope he makes a speedy recovery.
