It may be only January, but the organisers behind the Reading and Leeds Festival have announced that this year's headliners are "staggeringly good".

Melvin Benn, the festival's director, has confirmed today that the three main headliners have already been booked for the August event, but would not comment on rising speculation on who the acts could be.

Benn has assured however that the headliners will not be appearing at any other festivals this summer. He added that they were "extraordinary".

Tickets to the event will go on sale some time in March.

Last year's Reading and Leeds festivals were headlined by Arcade Fire, Blink 182 and Guns N' Roses.
