As civil unrest engulfs pockets of London, independent music has taken an unprecedented hit.

Independent labels such as Hassle, 4AD, Warp, Beggars Banquet, Xtra Mile, XL and Domino have seen all their stocks destroyed through a huge warehouse fire this morning (August 9).

Around 40 firefighters tackled the blaze after looters set the massive unit ablaze in the early hours.

The three storey, 20,000 sq m Sony DADC warehouse in Enfield was used to store CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs for distribution and was also a major warehouse for stocks of indie labels which are distributed from there by the PIAS Entertainment Group.

It is expected that the financial hit from the losses of stock could mean many labels go under and independent record stores will struggle through a lack of core stock. Bands, artists and Room Thirteen all urge those who want to support the labels affected by the fire (listed below) to go to individual websites and purchase digital downloads.
