The Red Bull Bedroom Jam has returned for another year, giving unsigned bands the chance to go from performing their songs in their bedroom to wowing festival goers and even having the chance to win a recodring session.

Now in its 6th year, 2012 will see bands competing to win the chance to be one of the 8 acts who play at Slamdunk, Download, Hevy Festival and Sonisphere with the overall winner getting the oppotrunity to record in the Red Bull Studios as well as a support slot on a UK tour with a major act. But there's more! In addition this year will see 3 bands given the chance to devise, create and produce their very own high spec music video in conjunction with a team of industry professionals.

The Red Bull Bedroom Jam kicks off on Monday 30th January with 15 weekly shows presented by Katie P, and will see bands playing to win your votes as well as those of a panel of judges consisting of editor Ben Patashnik (Rock Sound), festival booker Andy Copping (Download Festival) and rock agent Becky Sugden (The Agency Group).

Bands can register for this year's competition by uploading their music video at the RBBJ website

So how does it work?:

One band will be chosen each week for 15 weeks, using the Buzz Chart system. These bands will have the Bedroom Jam team come and record a live show direct from their bedrooms. From these 15 bands, 8 will be chosen by the panel of judges to play the festival tour.

At the end of the festival season the judges will choose three finalists. Each of these will have a TV-quality music video made for them.

The final 3 will then go head to head in a live final to see who walks away as the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Champion.

Last year's winners, Page 44 have just finished their tour with The Blackout and We Are The Ocean and had the following to say about the competition:

"It was incredible – absolutely amazing. Joining The Blackout and We Are The Ocean on tour was something we could never have dreamed of without the help of Red Bull Bedroom Jam. We've experienced so much and have so much to show since entering - we've really developed as a band!"
