The New 1920 debut

Cardiff quartet The New 1920 is really beginning to make a name for itself in the music industry. After touring alongside Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Fighting With Wire, Kids in Glass Houses and Lostprophets to name but a few, they have finally taken the opportunity to put material down on CD for their debut self titled Ep.

Produced in bedrooms and garages across Cardiff by Lostprophets trio Stuart Richardson, Mike Lewis and Ian Watkins last summer, The New 1920 have created three vibrant punchy rock tunes with a slight punk edge and one yummy live acoustic tune by the name of ‘Keep On’. The three rock songs have remarkably upbeat verses and choruses that are addictive and entice you to sing-a-long, the opener ‘Come Around’ being the most memorable, while the acoustic number puts you under a spell for two and a half minutes where you are unable to do anything else but listen and concentrate.

When it comes to having the skill to create an absolutely delicious song, The New 1920 have talent dripping from every corner. They are able to create catchy sing-a-long lyrics, forceful guitar riffs and an atmosphere you just have to be a part of, as well as near to perfect lyrics buried in the ups and downs of life, love, loss and escaping the world around us. With hypnotic vocals from Colin Francies and hard-hitting harmonies present on ‘Head For The Exit’ the band are completed perfectly.

This may only be a four track Ep, but it certainly leaves a listener begging for more.
