Ghostlight - Breathing Underwater
'Breathing Underwater' is the latest single from Ghostlight, a band who having only formed in late 2007, are exceedingly polished. With guitars bringing along the mid-tempo song along with piano moments, all overwritten by melodic vocals packed full of emotion, 'Breathing Underwater' is a song which is nothing exceeding unremarkable. It begins with anticipation, with a verse building up to what becomes a rather disappointing and repetitive chorus. Don’t get me wrong, musically this is a good tune, Al White’s vocals resonate somewhere between U2 and the Editors and it is evident that these guys are good musicians; but this song is lacking in excitement. Considering they were discovered after Sparklehorse (American electro rock band) had just heard their myspace demos, you would expect a lot more from Ghostlight than this middle of the road indie track. By all means give it a listen, but just don’t expect it to be amazing....
