Takes you back

The Raudive are a trio but have a full, meaty sound with old school indie-rock influences peppered throughout; opener ‘Warnings’ sounds like Sebadoh’s Lou Barlow singing over a Sonic Youth track, it has a really comforting retro feel that immediately takes you back to the 90s. There are plenty of really good riffs throughout the record, the opener included, and tracks like the lovely Pavement/Sebadoh-esque ‘I’m Control’ have a bouncy danceable beat and a really catchy chorus. ‘Under The Willows’ and (my personal favourite) ‘For The Crows’ are darkly poppy, punchy and have a slightly fuzzy and distorted sound. Great stuff, and really well played " technically this lot have nothing to worry about, seeming to breeze easily through each track, even the off-kilter guitar lines and solos are friendly and melodic. This debut is a short mini album or a long EP at only six tracks but it effectively whets your appetite for more.
