Rough But Ready

The debut release for this Dublin four piece, “Another Self Portrait”, kicks in straight away, it’s got a slightly DC hardcore sound but in a Jetplane Landing kind of way (like its been filtered through 90s indie rock); fuzzy guitar and a good melody push the track along nicely. The demo tracks that follow combine the two sounds that collide on the main track of the single: 'Plugged In’ is great, it really draws you in, the raw fractured sound of the lo-fi production adding layers of noise, it’s a short sharp bouncy punk tune on which you can really hear the energy. The final track, ‘Vacuum Girls’ has a very Jesus and Mary Chain feel; like an early 90s indie rock tune with plenty of distortion and a catchy melody. Some good tunes here, raw, vital and with great melodies - a promising start.
