Velvet Star - Velvet Star

The Yorkshire five piece that is Velvet Star is about to release their seven track self-titled maxi-Ep. These tracks may all very similar within their style and sound, but they are still very enjoyable to listen to. There are consistent heavy guitar riffs and intense drumming that after a while can become quite catchy. There are also slightly darker tones emitted on ‘Easy’ while ‘Rockstar//Superstar’ has more dominant bass impulses.

The most detectable element, something that is always consistent within each track, is the sharp guitar solos. Like many musicians before them these areas really make their presence known and have something you come to expect and enjoy as the tracks play. Vocalist Danny Jones has a very strong manor while singing and is able to intertwine within the music rather well. He understands what each track vocally requires and is able to achieve this to make the songs more satisfying to listen to. The harmonies also become really noticeable and stronger as the tracks progress.

These guys got together back in 2006 with the intention of playing loud music and having a good time. They definitely have the loud aspect under wraps and by the sounds of it they are having a blast while recording. There is no doubt Velvet Star is going to be entertaining many with this record.
