Alight single review
'Eyes Aflame' is the debut double A-side from Aylesbury four piece Alight.
The song opens with some standard issue rock power chords which leads on to singer Michael Navarro’s rasping vocals, who sounds uncannily like Scott Stapp from Creed. Maybe that’s just me.
Alight band have been described as Foo Fighters meets Incubus with a dose of Biffy Clyro thrown in as well. Upon listening to 'Eyes Aflame' its easy to see where that comes from, especially in the guitar sound. But whereas Foo Fighters and Biffy Clyro slowly evolved into their current day sound this single already has a serious bit of gloss on it. This might be down to mixer Simon Gogerly, who has mixed albums for the likes of U2, Placebo and Gwen Stefani.
Warm wreckage is more of a slow burner at first compared to 'Eyes Aflame' with jangly guitars building up to a crescendo of distorted noise. Lovely. All in all a pretty good effort. Hopefully hear more in the future.
