Following up on their first self financed EP, Newport’s Boys With X-Ray Eyes second offering, ‘Oh My! How We Terrify’ finds the band building on their original success with an ability and class that escapes many well established acts as their latest EP provides anger fuelled riffs amidst rage filled screams that will terrify and delight.
Brash, noisy and with an in your face mentality that refuses to back down, ‘Hot Rod’ opens proceedings with intense brutality as hardcore riffs dive headfirst into layered vocals encrusted in adrenaline drenched anger that scream, growl and snarl with delight before ‘Electro The Human Lightning Bolt’ pounds and stomps with enough venom, spite and brutality to make ‘Hot Rod’ seem like a meek child’s nursery rhyme as it sadistically wields a melodic hook to tease. But it is title track, ‘Oh My! How We Terrify’ where Boys With X-Ray Eyes fully find their stride. From the simplicity of the softly sung opening to the rise of riffs and beats that erupt into a crescendo of yells and throat aching snarls, ‘Oh My!
