A strong debut of punk rock

Pop punk, skater rock, call it what you will, the fact is its well and truly making a comeback. The Startover make it crystal clear from the first beats of the opening track of their debut EP, 'Survivor's Guide', that they're a force to be reckoned with in the genre.

Reminiscent of bands from the 90s/2000s such as The Ataris from the USA and Australia's 28 Days, the vocals hold the instantly identifiable timbre that, when mixed in with defined guitars, screams modern punk rock.

'Worst Case Scenario', gets things going strongly, with up tempo muted beats from drummer Elliot Philpot it sets the scene for 6 strong punk rock tracks that will get you moving.

'Tactics (We'll Sleep When You're Dead)' shows off how good these boys are. Centred on the vocals the guitars start light and contrasting before building the energy into the chorus and remaining a strong and dynamic backing through the song.

'13 Ways To Be Better Than You' mixes things up with whining harmonies, passionate screams and guitars that make you want to get up and move

Closing the EP, 'If you build it...' is a mix of tempo changes, slow and soaring contrasting with solid and upbeat with layered vocals from most of the band, Scott Mallard and Pete Clarke doing double duty between vocals and guitars and bassist Dan Mackey also holding strong in the voice department, finishing with throbbing beats and sing along lyrics.

The boys from Kent have crafted an EP that puts their own rocking interpretation on the modern 'skater' punk rock genre.  Polished and practiced every riff every drum beat every tempo change is carefully crafted to produce songs that will get you singing and bouncing along.
